AiCuris (anti-infective cures) is a pharmaceutical company located in Wuppertal, Germany, which is active in the research and development of innovative treatments for infectious diseases. AiCuris was founded in 2006 as a spin-off from Bayer HealthCare and our mission is to discover and develop novel antiviral and antibacterial therapies for the treatment of serious and often life-threatening infections.
AiCuris is actively undertaking the clinical development of a broad pipeline of novel drug candidates. AiCuris, furthermore, has a strong commitment to in-house research projects and is currently active in both the antibacterial and antiviral fields.
The Position
We are looking for an experienced postdoc with a PhD in microbiology and several years of experience in experimental antibacterial research preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate has profound knowledge of antibiotics and of pathogenic bacteria (especially Gram-negatives, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Practical expertise in vivo as well as immunological and/or structural biology knowledge are advantageous.
Integrated in a team of research scientists and technical assistants with long-time expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, your task will be to characterize compounds with antibacterial activity in vitro and in vivo and to develop new strategies for the identification and lead optimization of novel antibacterial agents.
You will be responsible for planning and conducting your own experiments and should have the ability to lead a team of technicians. Strong communication skills, good organisational abilities and a proactive attitude are desirable.
For the time being the position is temporary for 2 years. However, prolongation into a permanent position is intended.
