About AiCuris

AiCuris (name derived from 'anti-infective cures') is a pharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, research and development of novel antiviral and antibacterial agents for the treatment of severe and potentially life-threatening infectious diseases. AiCuris has its roots in Bayer's long history of successful anti-infective drugs. Spun out in 2006 AiCuris owns a broad portfolio of R&D programs, compounds and intellectual property. The research fields in question are human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), hepatitis C, HIV, herpes and bacteria. We will on the one hand take existing heritage of anti-infective projects further through clinical development (actual up to phase II) and has on the other hand a strong commitment to identify new drugs by in-house discovery research.

The role of the project leader is exceedingly important for the overall success of the company, as a development company counts on the success of its projects.  

Tasks

He or she

• Is responsible for the generation of the Target Product Profile and the development strategy
• Selects the team members in agreement with CEO and CMO
• Plans and justifies for required resources (including missing functions in house) for successful project completion
• Coordinates the project team and the project-related activities
• Must have a complete overview of the project at any given time
• Supervises the progress of the project with respect to
• quality
• timelines     
• costs / budget
• changes
• Must be aware of bottlenecks and possible risks (including IP-protection), outlines solutions and implement them with the team
• Selects/keeps good contact with external experts and KOLs
• Ensures that all project-related documents are posted in the development folder
• Represents the project in presentations and communications to third parties respecting confidentiality
• Must have a clear understanding of competitive drugs in the market and in development
• Must make sure that the agreed publication strategy is designed and implemented with the team
• Supervises the generation and update of key regulatory documents

Skills and Qualifications

• PhD in biology or chemistry or biochemistry or pharmacology or pharmacokinetics or microbiology or toxicology or health science or MD
• Around 10 years experience in pharmaceutical industry. At least 5 years of professional experience as project leader or manager taking a compound from preclinical to registration. Experience in anti infectives will be a plus, international experience required.
• Good understanding of animal safety pharmacology, animal pharmacokinetics, toxicology, CMC, clinical development, competitor analysis and regulatory requirements for development and registration
• Good organizational skills including the capability of setting priorities. Accuracy, detail-focussed without being a perfectionist and able to maintain a complete overview of the project
• Team oriented personality with good interpersonal skills, i.e. positive & constructive attitude, desire and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and able to motivate and inspire his/her team members
• People management competencies, i.e. leadership, ‘open door' attitude
• Ability to work in a project driven and result-oriented way, sometimes in pressured circumstances. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with self-motivation under tight timelines
• Knowledge of working with standard and specific software (e.g. Microsoft Office and Project)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate information effectively to a variety of individuals
• Excellent English (oral and written), German (advantageous but not a primary requirement)
• Trustworthiness
